چکیده

In this paper we present a new method for studying auditory systems based on m-sequences. The method allows us to perturbatively study the linear response of the system in the presence of various stimuli. This allows one to construct linear kernels at the same time that other stimuli are being presented. Using the method we calculate the modulation transfer function of single neurons in the inferior colliculus of the cat.

SECURING INTERPRETABILITY OF FUZZY MODELS FOR MODELING NONLINEAR MIMO SYSTEMS USING A HYBRID OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS

In this study, a Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) is utilized to extract interpretable and compact fuzzy rule bases for modeling nonlinear Multi-input Multi-output (MIMO) systems. In the process of non- linear system identi cation, structure selection, parameter estimation, model performance and model validation are important objectives. Furthermore, se- curing low-level and high-level ...

An Editing Environment for DNA Sequence Analysis

This paper presents a computer system for analyzing and annotating large-scale genomic sequences. The core of the system is a multiple-gene structure identi cation program, which predicts the most \probable" gene structures based on the given evidence, including pattern recognition, EST and protein homology information. A graphics-based user interface provides an environment which allows the us...

Voltammogram `̀ Landscapes'' Aid Detection and Identi®cation of In Vivo Electrochemical Signals

Voltammetry does not have the capacity to identify detected compounds unequivocally but relies largely upon independent veri®cation criteria. Nevertheless, the most useful starting points are the size, shape and position of the oxidation peaks. While constant for many compounds, some signals, such as serotonin, change with time and can confound attempts at identi®cation. In the present article ...

A Qualitative and Quantitative Characterisation of Style in Sign Language Gestures

This paper addresses the identi cation and representation of the variations induced by style for the synthesis of realistic and convincing expressive sign language gesture sequences. A qualitative and quantitative comparison of styled gesture sequences is made. This comparison leads to the identi cation of temporal, spatial, and stuctural processes that are described in a theoritical model of s...
